Dry Martini

The original and classic cocktail made famous by the very famous secret service agent James Bond. Dry Martinis have been poured in cocktail bars all over the world for more than one hundred years.

The drink is just pure alcohol with no mixers whatsoever so the gin and vermouth you choose are of critical importance. The measurements you require are five parts gin to one part vermouth, combine into a cocktail mixer over blocks of ice then simply pour into a glass garnished with a twist of lemon peel and a green olive.

Never shake this classic cocktail as Mr Bond always advises, and you will have the most sophisticated and elegant pre-dinner drink.

An exotic fruit such as Mangosteen is the perfect base for a tropical cocktail imparting a special Southeast Asian bias on the drink. The alcohol involved is vodka combined with magosteens, freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar, and ginger root.

Take the mangosteens and put the white flesh into a blender, at this point set aside the larger plump pieces, the ones with seeds inside, to eat later. Add the lemon juice, sugar, ginger and eight to ten ice cubes and blend until the ingredients are smooth.

Take two glasses and pour a shot of quality vodka into each, fill each glass with half each of the mix and add soda water. Garnish with a lemon slice and you have a taste of Southeast Asia with every sip.
